Half-Day Leave
Also known as: partial day leave, AM/PM leave
Half-day leave is time off booked for part of a working day — typically a morning or afternoon — deducting half a day from the balance.
Half-day leave lets employees take part of a day off rather than a full day, usually split into a morning (AM) and afternoon (PM) portion. It deducts a half-day, or the equivalent hours, from the leave balance.
Supporting half-days (and sometimes hourly leave) makes a leave tracker far more useful for appointments, school runs, and partial absences, but it requires the balance maths to handle fractional days accurately.
